EARLY MARINER’S OCTANT W/HALIFAX LABEL – Georgian period W.F. Gannon,
London ebony and ivory mariner’s octant circa 1810, in original stepped
oak case. Interestingly, inside the lid is a retailer's label for
Cogswell of Halifax, Nova Scotia, suggesting this instrument was at one
time serviced or sold in Halifax.
