A Very Fine Pair of George III Style Gilt Bronze Cassolettes / Candlesticks, Circa 1880                  

 

After a design by Matthew Boulton (1728-1809), showing a pair of finely gilded amphora shaped bodies decorated with neoclassical elements of ram’s heads & bellflower swags. Both feature socle shaped tops that convert into candleholders when removed & then rotated upside down and returned back into their respective bases. Raised upon fluted columns ringed by laurel wreath mounts, mounted atop squared & stepped bases on turned supports.

Dimensions, 9.25” high x 3.25” wide x 3” deep.
