A Very Fine French Silver &  Daum Glass Ewer, France Circa 1870

                                                                     

The flattened ovoid glass body having a partially frosted surface decorated with etched thistle motifs highlighted in gilt, the remaining area decorated with motifs of the cross of Lorraine outlined in gilt. The neck fitted with a silver collar & hinged spout-cover affixed to a foliate inspired handle, all bearing 1st standard silver marks denoting .950 silver purity, and maker’s marks.

Although apparently unsigned the glass body is most certainly by Daum.
