A Unique Collection of Wet & Dry Trout Flies & Lures, Canada Circa 1965
A large & most unique collection of approximately 275 vintage hand-tied wet & dry trout flies, all mounted & described with typed labels, seemingly made by an inmate at Saint Vincent de Paul Penitentiary in Laval Quebec during the 1960’s.
A handwritten note referencing a fly-tying manual is contained within an accompanying brown manilla envelope retaining its original postmarked Canada Post label, noting ‘Hull, Quebec 1965’, addressed to ‘Satellite Industrial, Mr. Renee Latreille, 200 St. Francis, St. Vincent de Paul, PQ’ along with a return address shown upper left corner.
Each of the five panels measures, 23.75” high x 15.75” wide, (note: some panels are incomplete as illustrated), all contained within a hinged, hard shell carrying case, measuring 17.75” high x 25.75” wide x 4” deep.
See the accompanying, associated documentation titled ‘Crime & Delinquency’ - Subsection 2, published in 1964 by The Canadian Penitentiary Service, prepared under the direction of A.J. MacLeod, Commissioner of Penitentiaries, Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
