MOOSEHAIR EMBROIDERED BIRCH BARK HANKY POUCH
Natural dyed moose hair on birch bark with silk bellows and moose hair edging, thread under binding.
Huron, Quebec, mid 19th C.
One of the most intact and strongly coloured pieces I've had. It is pictured in a very old hanky box from the collector from whence it came. The silk bellows is remarkably intact.
Not much of this work still exists on the market today especially in this size and complexity, some minor loss to embroidery.
