A scalloped ceremonial salver, George II (1727-1760), 925/1000 silver, engraved decoration "grotesque masks, putti, fruits and flowers" with central reserve "Mythological scene", English, London mark (1733), George Wickes maker's mark (1723-1734).
The central embossing was treated in the poem "Pegasus in Harness" by Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805). The engraving, excepting the central embossing, appears original, the central embossing is 19th century.
