A fine quality William IV sterling silver meat platter (or serving platter) by William Bateman II, hallmarked London 1833. Shaped oval with shell, acanthus and gadroon border, engraved with a family crest with mottoes "Virtute Et Valore" (with strength and valor) and "Luceo Non Uro" (I shine, not burn) . 17 1⁄4" x 13" (44x 33cm), 56.8 troy oz (1766g).
