GUSTAV KLINGERT RUSSIAN SILVER TEA GLASSES
A fine pair of circa 1900 Russian silver niello silver tea glass holders by Gustav
Klingert.
Klingert’s career started as a master silversmith for Faberge.
He later began his own operation in 1865, and almost 25 years later he
exhibited at the Paris Exhibition. A few years after that he exhibited
at the Chicago World’s Fair and was routed as one of Russia’s most
important silver firms. After gaining an undeniable degree of popularity
his wares were imported and sold in the United States through Tiffany &
Company of New York.
Note that this pair of holders features a presentation engraving on the underside, likely given as a wedding gift.
