A Fine Chinese Export Silver Tea & Coffee Service by Hung Chong,

Circa 1900

This highly attractive silver four piece tea & coffee service is comprised of a coffee pot, teapot, lidded sugar bowl & creamer - the coffee pot of baluster form, the three remaining pieces of compressed globular form, all having a subtle stippled surface inset with blank spherical cartouches, as well as ‘bamboo’ shaped spouts, handles & finials.

Their undersides bearing impressed character marks & maker / retailer marks for Hung Chong & Company of Canton & Shanghai (working 1860-1930), with the exception of the coffee pot suggesting perhaps an early repair to the base.

Combined weight, 1624 grams (52.21 troy ounces).
