A Fine Arts & Crafts Wrought Iron & Parcel Gilt Fire Grate / Basket, Circa 1890                                                     

 

A very handsome 19th century wrought iron & parcel gilt Arts & Crafts fire grate / basket, together with it's original integral andirons. The fire basket is fitted with a removable bottom grate, over a brass apron with cast iron anthemia appliques, sided by a pair of organic inspired andirons with leaf shaped supports, rising to stylized gilt bronze finials in the form of flowering urns.

 

The reverse is stamped with foundry marks for noted New York City foundry, William H. Jackson Company, New York City. The William H. Jackson foundry has been producing high quality metalware since 1827 and are still in production today.

        

Dimensions, 24” high x 34” wide x 16” deep                                                                                                

In very good overall condition, cosmetically restored but with no structural changes.
