A fine and diminutive 18th century Neoclassical sterling silver coffee urn, fitted with a detachable lid and sided by reeded up-swept handles with acanthus shaped mounts, the reeded spigot fitted with its original carved ivory insulator finial.

 

The front engraved with period decoration of swags and garlands above a monogrammed oval cartouche, the lid similarly monogrammed. Raised overall upon a spreading circular foot atop a squared base with ball shaped supports.

 

The underside bearing impressed London hallmarks and date marks for 1783, makers marks illegible.

 

Height, 14.5”. Weight 40 troy ounces (1248 grams).
