George III Figured Mahogany Cabinet On Chest

England, c. 1765

Fine, Chippendale Period Cabinet on Chest-of-Drawers. Carved dentil cornice above a frieze carved with rope-twist swags centering demi-lune flowerheads. Door panels set with concave-corner mouldings, each corner with a carved leafy bow. The cabinet set into a moulding atop a chest with 2 short & 2 long drawers with pierced brass handles. Standing on bracket feet. Two shelves within the cabinet. A brass filet conceals the join where the two doors meet.

Fine cabinetry.
