A superb Charles II black-Japanned, parcel-gilt & silvered metal-mounted cabinet on giltwood stand
Late 17th / early 18th century
In two parts, the rectangular English or European case decorated with Chinoiserie landscapes and fitted with a pair of doors, opening to reveal a fitted arrangement of short, long and deep drawers, the giltwood stand with pierced frieze of scrolls and foliage, with two putti flanking a central cartouche, rasied on hipped cabriole legs carved with flowerheads and ending in scrolled feet.
