GERMAN PAINTED WEDDING CUPBOARD

Folk-decorated wedding cupboard with two paneled cupboard doors opening to reveal
several interior shelves, the unit topped with a stylized 3-tiered shelf topper. Original painted exterior with birds facing each other on the doors, symbolizing love and fidelity.
 
This cupboard has descended to present time through the original owner's family who emigrated to Canada from the Franconia region of Germany.
 
Hinges, escutcheon, lock, key and feet are all original. Several round nails have been added to the backside of the cupboard over time.
