A Very Fine 18th Century Neoclassical Brass Register Grate, Irish Circa 1780
The brass surround engraved with neoclassical motifs, framing an iron basket with a triple bar grate flanked by similarly engraved brass-panelled fire cheeks topped with urn-shaped finials, surmounting an engraved & pierced brass apron.

Although apparently unsigned, this fine example bears a number of unmistakeable characteristics associated with register grates manufactured by two of the finest Dublin workshops of the 18th century - George Binns, and S.& Jn. Clarke.
