Fine English burl walnut drawing room cabinet, finely inlaid and

decorated with ormolu mounts, the door inset with Sèvres porcelain

plaque depicting courting scene, the full width cupboard door

enclosing a shelf, and the whole raised on elaborately decorated feet, circa 1860.

 

The Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, located in Sèvres, Hauts-de-

Seine, France, is the continuation of Vincennes porcelain, founded in

 1740, which moved to Sèvres in 1756. The factory has been owned

 by the French crown or government since 1759, and has always

maintained the highest standards.
